Bekonscot Model Village and Railway can be found in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire. It is home to the oldest model village in the world, with six model villages covering 1.5 acres. Created in 1929, the model villages have evolved, and feature tiny tramways, churches, castles and even a zoo. The garden railway is one of the largest in the UK, and carries its passengers through the delightful scenery of the ornamental gardens.

The Bucks Goat Centre has an interesting collection of these characterful creatures, with examples of every breed of goat to be found in the UK. There are also llamas, wallabies, birds, reptiles, pigs and donkeys, as well as a petting pen for small children to get to know the guinea pigs and rabbits. Tractor rides take visitors around the farm, and there is a café that can cater for children’s parties.

The Hellfire, or West Wycombe Caves, is a series of artificial caverns carved into the chalk landscape underneath a church in West Wycombe. The caves were commissioned in the 1700s by Francis Dashwood, who used them as a meeting place for his Hellfire Club, whose members were notorious hedonists. The caves are open to the public today, and are said to be haunted.

Hughenden Manor is a famous manor house just outside High Wycombe. This former private residence is a popular National Trust destination. The mansion was once owned by the 19th century Prime Minister, Benjamin Disraeli, who had the house renovated in an interesting architectural style. The house is furnished as it may have been during Disraeli’s residence, and it is surrounded by lovely grounds. There are lots of things to learn and enjoy here.

West Wycombe Park is a grand country estate and grade I listed manor house. The mansion was constructed in the 18th century under the instruction of the notorious Francis Dashwood, of Hellfire Club fame. Dashwood’s descendants still live there today, although the property is run by the National Trust. During the summer the estate is open to the public, who can explore the stunning Italianate mansion and its sympathetically designed gardens. In keeping with Dashwood's reputation for hedonism, legend has it that the gardens were originally laid out in the form of a naked woman.
