The Rockliffe Hall Hotel is an impressive five-star country manor establishment which is set amid 375 acres of grounds on the North Yorkshire-County Durham border. The 2009-opened property is thought to be among the North of England’s top places in which to stay thanks to its abundance of amenities and facilities for seemingly every activity and occasion. Formerly under the ownership of the Backhouse family, the Rockliffe Hall Darlington in County Durham was built in 1863 as a mansion house with 10 bedrooms. In recent times Middlesbrough Football Club used the setting for their training ground but since then it has been transformed into somewhere near its former glory for the use of leisure and business guests to the region.

The beautiful Rockliffe Hall Hotel is to be found on the edge of County Durham, approximately 20 miles from the picturesque city of Durham. More specifically, it is positioned between Croft-on-Tees and Hurworth Village on the banks of the River Tees as it flows towards the sea. Close to the likes of Darlington, Newcastle and Northallerton, there are plenty of places nearby to visit, while the hotel’s proximity to the North Yorkshire Moors ensures visitors can head there for walks and so on. There are 61 bedrooms and suites at the hotel. The bedrooms come in several different categories and are spread around different parts of the grounds, culminating in the impressive Raine Suite. Each of the rooms enjoys a modern design with all the relevant amenities for a hotel of a five-star standard. At the Rockliffe Hall in Durham there are three different restaurants in which to dine as well as two bars. British cuisine is customary in the Orangerie, the Waterhouse Bistro serves light or hearty meals and the Clubhouse is ideal for a meal after a round of golf.
