United Kingdom

Epping Forest is situated to the north-east of London, approximately 20 miles away from its centre and covers an expanse of almost 2,500 hectares. The ancient woodland brings together grassland, woodlands, ponds and rivers and was, at one time, known as Waltham Forest. At its largest points Epping Forest covers 19 kilometres from north to south and 4 kilometres from east to west.

A church has stood on the site of Waltham Abbey for hundreds of years even if the building itself has been rebuilt or revamped on a number of occasions. In fact, the church dates back as far as the 1050s but was dissolved under Henry VIII in 1540. Today’s abbey is particularly striking and is open throughout the week for visit; there are also services and times of prayer or worship during the week in addition.
