The Dean Forest Railway is a handsomely preserved steam railway running between Lydney and Parkend in Gloucestershire. The 9-mile round journey takes approximately 2 hours as the charming vintage steam engines haul the carriages through the extraordinary scenery of the southern fringes of the Forest of Dean. There are several stops along the route; Norchard and Lydney Junction has a large car park, riverside and forest walks, a souvenir shop, museum, restoration shed and a café.
