Re-opened in 2009 following a major refurbishment project, Lime Wood is a stunning five-star hotel located in the heart of the New Forest. Built on the site of a 13th century hunting lodge, the original building at the centre of Lime Wood is a magnificent country house. The house has been transformed in to a luxury hotel, taking great care to ensure that the house's original spirit and character were retained in the process.
There are 29 bedrooms at Lime Wood, 14 bedrooms and 15 suites. These are spilt between the main house and several newer buildings. The Crescent has been designed in a Franco-Scottish style with a touch of New England, and contains one bedroom and a number of suites. Set back from the main building, The Crescent is particularly tranquil. Two additional pavilions set apart from the main house are also available, one containing a suite and the other a brace of bedrooms. Finally, there is The Coach House, blending a traditional Arts and Crafts style with Italian sensibilities. The Coach House consists of interconnecting rooms and suites, ideal for families or small groups of friends.
All bedrooms and suites are luxuriously furnished with an emphasis on comfort, and boast all the features one would expect from a five-star hotel, including king sized beds, complimentary wireless internet access, in-room pantry, satellite television and DVD player. Several of the hotel's bedrooms have been specially designed to accommodate disabled guests.
There are two restaurants at Lime Wood, each offer a distinct dining experience. The Dining Room offers an elegant, fine-dining experience in a beautiful setting. Ash panelled walls, carved chandeliers and beautiful views over the hotel's gardens combine to create a glamorous environment. The Scullery is more informal, evoking the ambience of an 18th century country house kitchen. The centrepiece of The Scullery is a large, open fireplace, often used to roast meat “a la ficelle”.
Irrespective of which restaurant is chosen, guests at Lime Wood are ensured a first-class menu of mouth-watering dishes. Both menus place heavy emphasis on the use of local, organic products and “forest food” including wild mushrooms, garlic and local venison. For a pre-dinner drink or aperitif, the bar and wine cellar offer a warm and cosy space to catch up with friends. Cognac lovers will be spoilt for choice, the bar has over 100 varieties on offer.
Opened in 2010, the Herb House Spa provides a space where guests at Lime Wood can relax and unwind in a serene country environment. The Herb House Spa has been designed to take full advantage of the hotel's New Forest location, including a sauna with picturesque views of the forest. An extensive range of beauty treatments is offered to guests in need of some pampering. For those seeking more active past-times a swimming pool and state-of-the-art gym are available. The Herb House is more than just a mere name; the spa features a rooftop garden brimming with fragrant herbs, an ideal spot for sunbathing or meditation.
Several function rooms are available at Lime Wood, perfect for both business and pleasure. Business shouldn't be all work and no play, especially when meeting somewhere as delightful as the New Forest. Lime Wood's “Work Hard, Play Hard” packages offer a distinctly different addition to the traditional meeting package. Finish the business day with a 90 minute class on cocktail making, or an introduction to the art of wine tasting. Lime Wood is fully licenced for weddings and civil partnership ceremonies, and the hotel is available for exclusive hire to wedding parties Monday through Thursday.
Lime Wood may be one of the New Forest's newest hotels but it certainly hasn't wasted any time making its mark, ensuring guests are guaranteed a world-class experience.
