Blackburn Cathedral is the only Anglican Cathedral in Lancashire. There has been a religious settlement on this site since at least the 8th century, although much of today’s magnificent structure dates from much later. When the Diocese of Blackburn was created in 1926, Blackburn Parish Church was designated as the new Cathedral, and considerable developments were made to the building, resulting in the impressive sight that greets visitors today.
