Running between Shackerstone and Shenton stations, close to the scene of the 1485 Battle of Bosworth, the Battlefield Line is a beautifully preserved heritage railway line with a fleet of lovingly restored diesel and steam engines to haul passengers through the Leicestershire countryside. Belgrave Hall, in the northern suburbs of Leicester, was built between 1709 and 1713; today it is set out as an interactive museum, allowing visitors to glimpse how life was for the well-off middle classes and their servants during the Georgian and Victorian eras. Belgrave Hall is also reputedly one of the UK’s most haunted buildings, with a string of unexplained paranormal events occurring over the years.

The beautiful Stanford Hall was built in the late-17th century as a home for Sir Roger Cave and it is a particularly grand setting in the Leicestershire countryside. Ornate and elegant, the hall still provides a home to the descendants of Sir Cave and it features areas such as a ballroom, drawing room, an exquisite library and bedrooms with four-poster beds. There is also a shop at the Stanford Hall as well as a cafe.
