The Kingsley, formerly known as the Thistle Bloomsbury, is set in the London’s popular and fashionable West End and more specifically in the Bloomsbury district with its impressive literary background and heritage. The dominating Edwardian structure experienced a major £10 million overhaul in recent years which was completed in the middle of 2009. The refurbishment revamped all the bedrooms, the meeting rooms and the public areas and so the extensive work left few stones unturned.
Historically known as the Kingsley Hotel in times gone by, the property itself has gone back to its roots with its rename. It has not avoided the area’s literary past – EM Forster wrote part of A Room With a View while living in the venue. Bloomsbury has also been associated with the likes of WB Yeats, Charles Dickens and Virginia Woolf in the past.
The Kingsley’s position at the heart of the UK’s capital means it is in close proximity to an array of top attractions and sights. Among those nearby are the British Museum, the West End with all its theatres, Oxford Street with its top shops and Covent Garden.
Thanks to London’s extensive transport network it is fairly straight forward to reach the hotel; a handful of major train stations are within a one mile radius, while the Holborn and Tottenham Court Road underground stations are also nearby. There are several other Thistle hotels situated close to the this venue in Bloomsbury, including the Bloomsbury Park, the Piccadilly and the Royal Trafalgar.
