Click for travel directions One Aldwych is a stunningly attractive and luxurious hotel located at the heart of London and just a stone’s throw from a number of theatres, restaurants and shops. The hotel, naturally, holds five stars and has scooped a number of awards over the years; it delightfully contrasts a modern interior with a beautifully traditional exterior. The boutique hotel is positioned on the junction of the Strand and Aldwych and so is in a great position in regard to Covent Garden for example. At this luxury central London hotel there are exquisite touches that heighten the levels of comfort and style for those staying within, whether they are here overnight, visiting for a meeting, enjoying a meal or pre-theatre drink, or utilising the chlorine-free swimming pool and gym.

The Edwardian style One Aldwych started out life as the home of the Morning Post newspaper in 1907. Ironically, despite being designed and built under the Anglo-French duo of Mewes and Davis, otherwise known for their role in kicking off the Ritz group, it wasn’t until much later on that it was transformed into a hotel itself. After its use as the headquarters of the Morning Post this role ceased in 1937, instead becoming home to Illustrated Newspapers Limited. At this time it was known as Inveresk House, while more recently Prudential Assurance and Lloyds Bank inhabited the building.

London’s One Aldwych Hotel is distinctive for its impressive array of original works of art, of which there are more than 400 dotted around the property. Various pieces of art and sculptures can be found throughout, including an item in each bedroom while the unusual Beano dog is on hand to greet visitors in the reception.

It is an excellent location that the One Aldwych Hotel finds itself in, near a series of high-profile London attractions as well as a number of West End theatres. Culture is the name of the game in this part of the city and nearby are the likes of the Houses of Parliament, Trafalgar Square and St Paul’s Cathedral. The closest train station to One Aldwych is positioned along the Strand at Charing Cross and here there is an underground stop too, while a further tube station is at Covent Garden. Meanwhile, on the other side of Waterloo Bridge is the famous Waterloo train station should you be travelling from further afield.
