The Ashmolean Museum in Oxford is part of the University of Oxford and it was brought to life in its current form in the year 1908. At this time it brought together the former Ashmolean Museum with the University Art Collection under one roof, and they existed since the 1620s. Among the features of this famous museum are items from Eastern Art and Western Art, while there are also coins and casts.

The Bodleian Library belongs to the University of Oxford and like many of the buildings in the city boasts elegant structures and plenty of history. In fact, it is among Europe’s oldest libraries and it is also particularly large, with some 11 million volumes found inside. The Bodleian Library is the university’s primary centre of research and dates back to the year 1602.

The Oxford Botanic Garden is a beautiful and tranquil setting that is not only used for research purposes but is also pleasing to the eye. The garden is home to some 7,000 plant types and they are split into walled gardens, rock gardens and greenhouses. The botanic garden has been in existence since the early part of the 17th century and is also home to a shop.

Oxford was once home to a Norman Castle and then a prison and it is on this site that the features of the city once stood. Some sections of the castle are visible to this day but its surroundings have since been transformed into the Malmaison Hotel and a series of shops and cafes. The 03 gallery at the castle puts on a range of events and exhibits during the year to inform visitors of the setting.

The University of Oxford Museum is an impressive structure in and of itself, protected as a grade I listed building. In existence for more than 150 years, the museum is home to a series of natural historic items such as the dodo and the swifts in the tower. There is a shop at the museum too and here visitors can purchase fossils, books and toys for example.
