The Church of St. Peter and St. Paul is considered by many to be Suffolk’s best ‘wool church’ and it stands tall at one end of the village as a signal of the village’s former wealth. The church was built in the 15th century, although it isn’t thought to have been completed until 1530, and it is easily visible for miles around.

This gallery is found in Lavenham’s Crooked House and is home to all sorts of items from regional artists. The house is crooked – as its name suggests – half-way up its structure and was constructed in 1395 for one of the town’s wealthy merchants. Not only are there paintings inside, the house also features ceramics, sculptures, jewellery and stained glass.

The Guildhall of Corpus Christi is one of the most. striking buildings in the former cloth-making village of Lavenham and it perfectly exhibits the half-timbered affect for which the Suffolk village is known. At the guildhall visitors can learn about the settlement’s paSt. in cloth making as well as its association with agriculture and its local train network. Also, and slightly bizarrely, it is possible to view Ramesses here, a mummified cat.
