The boutique Newcastle Malmaison contains 122 rooms in total, some of which fall in the standard category. As a former warehouse the rooms in the hotel wonderfully airy and spacious, but the rich colour scheme makes the accommodation feel cosy.

In addition to the selection of standard facilities there are also a series of classy and luxurious superior bedrooms. Some have double beds, some have twins while some even have views of the Millennium Bridge for good measure. As with the standard rooms wireless internet is available free of charge for the first half an hour; thereafter it is chargeable.

The 14 suites are located on the Chateau Floor, which also holds the exclusive Chateau Lounge for suite guests. There are several types of suites offered at the Mal, including eight junior suites, five corner suites, and at the top of the pile, the HMS Ark Royal Suite. This suite is truly decadent, with a four-poster bed, two flat-screen televisions and twin baths in the elegant bathroom.
