Click for travel directions The County Hotel Newcastle, formerly the Thistle Hotel Newcastle, is set in a rather grand Victorian building at the heart of the city of Newcastle in the north of England. The venue was built at some point during the 19th century and today takes on a listed status as testament to its heritage. Boasting a definite symmetry the three-star County Hotel is located amid various shops, bars and restaurants at the centre of this bustling and ever-popular city. It is ideal for business users and leisure users alike thanks to both the hotel’s and the city’s suitability for each group of people.

The city of Newcastle lies on the north of the bank of the River Tyne and together with Gateshead on the other side of the river has become something of a tourist hotspot in this part of the United Kingdom. Images of the Angel of the North instantly come to mind when thinking about Newcastle, while there are also a number of other museums, galleries and attractions to visit while in the area. Among them are the Tanfield Railway – the world’s oldest existing railway, the Segedunum Roman Fort, the Laing Art Gallery and the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art. There are several Thistle hotels placed around the country including a handful in the north of England. As well as that at Newcastle there are also hotels at nearby Middlesbrough as well as a little further afield at Manchester and Liverpool.

The County Hotel Newcastle has a total of more than 100 guest rooms, some of which are executive rooms and junior suites, and each of which is well-equipped and designed with comfort in mind. The recently refurbished restaurant and bar brings together a menu of dishes from around the world but with a specific focus on British cuisine. The bar offers a place to relax and unwind in the evening over a couple of drinks. The Newcastle County Hotel’s meeting and event rooms can be set out in a variety of formats in order to cater for a range of activities of different shapes and sizes. The largest of the rooms can accommodate for approximately 200 in this section of the hotel which has a focus on music composers. Although the luxurious Newcastle hotel has no health and leisure facilities of its own guests can use the nearby fitness centre if necessary.
