Formerly known as the Newbold Gardens when it was founded in 1831, the park had an overhaul and a name change in 1846. The gardens now take their name from Henry Jephson, the man who began the town’s pump rooms. Visitors to the gardens can enjoy the beautiful flowers, simply lounge around on the lawns, feed the ducks on the lake or head to the Aviary Cafe for example.

The pump rooms are found on the southern side of the river in the centre of the town.
