At the Dudley Zoo in the West Midlands there are all sorts of animals such as Sumatran tigers, Asian lions, penguins and lemurs. As with any zoo Dudley Zoo is ideal for all the family and there are plenty of educational facets to help teach the younger ones. The castle, also onsite, dates back to 1070 and was home to many Lords of the Manor over the years, all the way up until the 1960s.

The National Sea Life Centre in Birmingham is home to the country’s first Hammerhead sharks. The centre boasts a whole host of inhabitants, from rays and green turtles to starfish and seahorses. Other activities include the 4D cinema where you can not only see the creatures but smell them and feel them too, while at the rock pool experience explorers and adventures can touch and hold crabs and starfish.

This is Birmingham's oldest and biggest park now a National Nature Reserve set in 2,400 acres. Given to the people of Sutton Coldfield by Henry VIII, it contains sites of historic interest. Boating, golfing and horse riding are some of the activities enjoyed here. You will also find a visitor centre, cafes and restaurants.
