The Amelia Earhart Centre, located just outside of Derry, is dedicated to the first woman to make a trans-Atlantic flight. She landed at Ballyarnett County Park in 1932, shortly before disappearing while flying over the Pacific in one of aviation’s greatest mysteries. There is a guide on-hand to show visitors around the site, including where Earhart landed at the end of the famous flight.

Bellaghy Bawn is a fortified town house and bawn (the defensive wall protecting a tower house), built in the early 17th century. The house was opened to the public as a museum in 1996 and houses exhibits on local natural history, local history, and the Nobel Laureate poet Seamus Heaney. There is a collection of Heaney’s broadcasts here as well as a sculpture relating to one of the poet’s poems.
Corick Stone Circles

Corick is a megalithic site consisting of five stone circles and three stone rows, located near the town of Magharefelt. The site also contains two large stones that are speculated to be the remains of a tomb. Unlike many megalithic sites, the crudeness of the stones at Corick suggests that they weren't used for astronomical purposes, but rather served a purely symbolic function.

Mussenden Temple was constructed in 1785 by the fourth Earl of Bristol and Bishop of Derry. Modelled on the Temple of Vesta in Tivoli, years of erosion has brought the temple closer and closer to the cliff edge and now enjoys spectacular coastline views. It forms part of the Downhill Estate near to Castlerock in County Derry and is among the most striking places to visit in the area.

Situated on the outskirts of Limavady, Roe Valley Country Park offers delightful riverside and woodland walks. While the park is the perfect place for a leisurely stroll, the River Roe also offers canoeing and trout fishing, with an angler's jetty by the river that is suitable for those with disabilities. Rock climbing is available on O'Cahan's Rock, a famous landmark in the bar. The park also contains the remains of buildings used in the local linen industry, including a restored water wheel.

Located near Moneymore, Springhill House is a 17th century plantation house. Springhill House has been a National Trust property since 1957, open to the public during the spring and summer months. As well as the plantation house visitors may explore the surrounding gardens and park, while the house contains an impressive costume collection. If you are lucky you may also catch a glimpse of Springhill House's resident ghost.

Constructed on the site of the early Christian church built by St Patrick in the 5th century, much of the present St Patrick’s Church dates from the late 19th century although parts also stem from the beginning of the 17th century. To the rear of the church, meanwhile, can be seen the remains of the ramparts that surrounded the town in the early 17th century. A further refurbishment took place in the 1990s too.

The Tower Museum contains two major historical exhibitions detailing the history of Derry. The Story of Derry uses a range of audio-visual and interactive displays to chart the city’s history from its earliest geological origins, while the Armada Exhibition tells the story of La Trinidad Valencera, one of the Spanish Armada’s largest ships which was wrecked off the Donegal coast near Derry in 1588.

Set within Derry’s refurbished 19th century workhouse, this museum tells the Dickensian story of the poor and starving herded into these institutions notorious for their abuse, misery and spectacularly high mortality rates. The museum also contains exhibits on the Great Famine and the Battle of the Atlantic, in which Derry played a leading role.
