The Old Blacksmith’s Shop is thought to be one of the country’s earliest attractions, with 19th century passers by taking a look through the windows to see if anyone was saying their wedding vows. It was officially opened to visitors in 1886 and today welcomes hundreds of thousands of people every year. The lures of commercialism have of course gripped the shop and so it also has features such as shops, the original marriage room, an arts and crafts centre and a sculpture garden.
