The striking five-star Edinburgh Residence Hotel comprises three Victorian townhouses which are set in the western part of the Scottish capital. Aptly part of the Townhouse group which features other hotels of this nature, the Edinburgh Residence is elegant and traditional in keeping with its heritage. Oak doors from years gone by still hang between the doorposts while there are also etchings, prints and traditional furnishings dotted around. Originally built in 1872, the hotel brings together three townhouses, one of which was home to the Lord Advocate of Scotland from 1891. Today, much of the former nature of the hotel can still be seen and when the venue was restored care was taken to ensure the past was not rejected at the expense of the present.
The Edinburgh Residence takes up a convenient position in the west end of Edinburgh on the classy Rothesay Terrace Crescent. Nearby is another establishment from the group which is known as the Bonham Hotel. Further, it is easy to reach the centre of Edinburgh and so guests can spend time shopping, eating and viewing the attractions such as Edinburgh Castle and the Palace of Holyrood House. If you are travelling to the city by train there are two train stations within 10 minutes’ taxi journey of the hotel, while the airport is located eight miles to the west.
Meeting a five-star standard, there are 29 suites at the Edinburgh Residence which offer luxury upon luxury and plenty of space for relaxation. There are classic suites, grand suites and townhouse apartments which boast the likes of Jacuzzi baths, traditional furnishings and the option of in-room dining. The Number Seven was added later to the Edinburgh Residence and offers a relaxed setting for hotel guests and others wishing for a top location for meals. The Edinburgh Residence is suitable for small group meetings and functions thanks to its drawing room and morning room. The latter is able to host up to 14 for private dining, 14 for a board meeting and a maximum of 30 for a cocktail style activity, while the drawing room is slightly larger and can host up to 50 people in some settings.
