Aberystwyth Castle

Aberystwyth Castle was built during the late 13th century, during a very turbulent period in Welsh history. It still stands overlooking the town today, but was partly destroyed by Parliamentarian forces in 1647. Some of the original stonework from the castle has been used for buildings in the town, and the site of the ruin affords breathtaking views of Cardigan Bay.
