The Mercure Cardiff Centre Hotel is the new name for what was known as the Mercure The Lodge Hotel Cardiff. This venue is a modern Mercure hotel positioned a short distance from the Welsh capital’s city centre and its stylish waterfront area. The hotel was built in 2005 and has a three-star rating. It acts as a convenient alternative to its four-star sister accommodation choice, the Holland House Hotel Cardiff, which is less than a mile away from The Lodge. The hotel is a five-minute drive from the central train and bus station and is 30 minutes from the city airport, making access easy and convenient.
As essentially a ‘new-build’ property, the Mercure Cardiff Centre Hotel is not the most appealing looking building from the outside, but the interior is very pleasant with a contemporary décor. The hotel has a total of 100 en suite guest bedrooms. Six of these are designed specifically with the disabled user in mind, and all are non-smoking. Rooms are suitable for business users as well as tourists. The hotel has a café bar, which is open all day to cater for visitors’ needs throughout the day and into the evening. Internet access is available throughout the hotel to be used at residents’ convenience. The hotel does not contain any meeting facilities. Likewise, there are no leisure facilities at The Lodge Hotel, but guests may use the swimming pool and leisure club at the Holland House Hotel Cardiff free of charge.
Cardiff provides an attractive option for residents, visitors and students alike, with much to see and do. The city hosts a series of sporting occasions at its internationally renowned Millennium Stadium, including top Six Nations rugby matches, as well as international football. Visitors can choose to take a tour of the city’s 2000 year old castle and picturesque gardens or go to the National Museum which houses a collection of Impressionist paintings with works by Renoir, Monet and Cezanne. As the nation’s capital, Cardiff also has much in the way of entertainment, shops, restaurants and bars, with St Mary Street and Mermaid Quay proving popular and busy areas.
