The Bath Spa Hotel is a charismatic and luxurious hotel situated close to the centre of the historic city of Bath. Its handsome façade of Bath stone is typical of the rich architecture in the city of Bath, but venture within and you will discover that the standards of luxury, style and service are truly out of the ordinary. The mansion house dates from the 19 th Century, and has been the subject of a sympathetic yet rigorous renovation and the results are very impressive. From the moment you enter the 7 acres of attractive grounds and approach the hotel via the tree-lined drive, you could imagine yourself as a character from a Jane Austen novel. The wonderful feeling of history continues inside the hotel, with many original features such as fireplaces, ornate mouldings and oak-panelling contributing to the Bath Spa Hotel’s unique character and charm.

The beautiful city of Bath has strong links with Jane Austen; the author, regarded by some as Britain’s finest, paid two long visits to the city in the latter years of the 18 th Century, and between 1801 and 1806 Bath was her home. Much of the city would still be familiar to Jane Austen today; Bath is Britain’s most complete example of a Georgian city, with characteristic well-ordered terraces, elegant townhouses and dramatic frontages typified by The Circus and The Royal Crescent. The known history of Bath can be traced much further than the 18 th Century however; during the Roman occupation of Britain, the small settlement of Aquae Sulis centred on the warm mineral springs that some believe had been discovered 1,000 years prior to the Roman occupation. Today the city of Bath is revered as one of the UK’s most historically important cities, and is a popular destination for tourists, not only because of its fabulous Georgian architecture and superbly preserved Roman baths, but also because of its sense of timelessness.
