The Living Rainforest is the only tropical rainforest anywhere in the UK, and can be found just a few miles to the north east of Newbury in Berkshire. It opened in 2000 as a centre for research and education on the unique relationship between rainforests and people. The faithfully created environments and their enchanting inhabitants focus on six different areas: plants, animals, ecosystems, human needs, economies and cultures.

The Ridgeway Path is regarded by historians as the oldest road in the world. Starting at Avebury in Wiltshire, and taking in the North Wessex Downs, through Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, through the Chilterns and finally on to Hertfordshire, The Ridgeway Path was an ancient drovers’ route, and is now popular with walkers and tourists. There are plenty of stopping off points along the 85-mile route, including many of southern England’s most treasured ancient monuments.
