Bowness on Windermere is very centrally placed and is quite a hub of activity. Situated between Ambleside and Lakeside, almost directly across from Hawkshead, Bowness benefits from the steam boat services that ply Lake Windermere for pleasure seekers. There is also a car ferry that runs between Bowness and Hawkshead. The train station is approximately a mile away, from which you can easily get a taxi to Blenheim Lodge.
From Blenheim Lodge, it is only a short walk of 2-5 minutes into Bowness town. The closest shops, restaurants and pubs are literally a 2-minute walk from us – although you would not believe it when you consider how peacefully situated we are. (Look out of your window and search for the crowds and traffic in vain!)
Amenities such as banks, an internet café, hairdressing salons, newsagents, a cinema, post office, other shops, restaurants and pubs are about 5-7 minutes’ walk from us. Local attractions, including the Beatrix Potter Attraction, steam boat services, tourist information centre, bus stops and public leisure golf, tennis, crazy golf, and badminton are also 7 minutes’ walk. You can even hire a boat to row on the Lake and a fishing rod!
