The Brecon Beacons National Park has a good selection of shopping facilities in its small market towns; while they may not offer the extensive range of shops of the nearby cities of Cardiff, Swansea and Newport, they are nevertheless full of interesting shops and specialist retailers. Brecon has a lively and bustling town centre, with arts and crafts shops, outdoor activities equipment and antiques shops particularly well represented; its indoor market hall is also the ideal place to buy fresh local produce, especially at the monthly Brecknock Farmers’ Market. Crickhowell, Abergavenny, Llandovery and Llandeilo are also busy towns that hold frequent markets and specialist fairs. Tucked away in the far northeastern corner of the National Park is Hay-on-Wye, regarded as the bookshop capital of the UK due to its abundance of second hand and antiquarian book sellers. There is also no shortage of gift shops selling mementos to remind you of your time in this beautiful part of the world.
