The Birr Castle Demesne has become famous around the world for its collection of exotic trees and plants, lakes, rivers and formal gardens stretching across 120 acres of a 17th century Park. The Great Telescope, is also to be found here. Built in 1845, it was the largest telescope in the world for more than 70 years.
