County Offaly is predominantly rural in nature with few towns of considerable size. Tullamore and Birr are the largest towns in the county, but are themselves small in size, so opportunities for shopping in terms of international retail are rather limited. County Offaly is, however, located relatively close to both Dublin and Galway, to which people from Offaly tend to go for major shopping trips.


There are nevertheless hundreds of small, local shops selling an array of unique arts and crafts, from pottery to ceramics and jewellery, which many visitors find to be perfect mementoes of their trip to County Offaly.
