Devon is one of England’s largest counties, and contains several large towns and cities. Consequently the county is well-equipped for shopping, but there’s more than just High Street shopping on offer – certainly the larger towns and cities, such as Plymouth, Exeter and Torquay are Devon’s main shopping centres, and offer an impressive array of the familiar High Street names, modern shopping malls, out of town shopping centres, and a host of cafes, restaurants and coffee shops to revive flagging shoppers. Move into the countryside and a different world of shopping appears – away from the hustle and bustle of the city, many of Devon’s market towns still offer frequent farmers’ markets, in which the freshest local produce can be bought. The county also has more than its share of smaller shops, specialist outlets and curiosity shops, with antiques in particular being well represented.
