The Dorchester Hotel is a five star luxury hotel on Park Lane, in London’s exclusive Mayfair. Exuding the style and opulence of a bygone age combined with the chic elegance and up to date modernity of ‘now’, The Dorchester Hotel is an intriguing and beguiling place – part living anachronism, part groundbreaker – it is however a thoroughly homogeneous package and combines all of its many facets to present a thoroughly satisfying hotel experience indeed.
When opened in 1931 The Dorchester Hotel was said to occupy the most prestigious acre and a half of real estate in the world. While times change and the world evolves at an ever accelerating pace, it is comforting to know that The Dorchester Hotel and its superb location overlooking Hyde Park in London’s West End still enjoys the same grand status as it did in 1931. Perhaps it is this defiance of change for the sake of change and the elegant, unhurried gait of a distinguished old gentleman that make up so much of the charm of The Dorchester Hotel. Certainly many of the world's important figures think of The Dorchester Hotel as their “home away from home”, but in true gentlemanly style, The Dorchester does not boast about such status.
Yet The Dorchester Hotel continues to evolve; an extensive programme of refurbishment was completed in the summer of 2003 and in the process all of the rooms were restyled and redecorated to an exceptionally high standard, in a quintessentially English country house style. The restaurants and bars were also revamped and are now fine venues befitting of such a grand hotel. The Dorchester Hotel’s extensive conference and banqueting facilities have also benefited from updating, and are now considered some of the most elegant and well equipped in London, while the addition of The Dorchester Spa – a luxurious and soothing place to escape the pressures of the modern world – ensures that The Dorchester Hotel continues to lead the way in luxury London Hotels. Recipient of many awards, The Dorchester Hotel is, naturally, rated by the AA amongst the Top 200 Hotels in Great Britain and Ireland, holding an impressive five red stars. |
