Welcome to Dublin – Cead Mile Failte Baile Átha Cliath. The historic Irish capital is situated at the mouth of the River Liffey on the East coast of Ireland. Dublin has emerged as one of Europe’s most popular destinations for city breaks and holidays, and it is easy to see why. The city has undergone an economic boom in recent years, and the optimism and willingness to party is infectious; Dublin is renowned as one of the world’s most vibrant party cities, and offers unrivalled nightlife in its astonishing array of cafes, bars, pubs and nightclubs. The pubs resonate with traditional Irish folk music, the Guinness flows freely, and the legendary Irish welcome and ‘craic’ makes you feel at home.

Yet the attraction of Dublin extends much further than stout and craic, although these are of course two of the city’s most celebrated features; Dublin offers a wealth of attractions for visitors to explore, including churches, historic buildings and libraries, as well as a superb selection of museums and galleries of major international importance. Throughout Dublin’s 1,000 years of history - from the earliest Viking settlers to the modern day - literature, theatre and art have played their own important roles in the city’s cultural development, and these unique contributions are celebrated today in many different ways; the works of such literary greats as Samuel Beckett, James Joyce, George Bernard Shaw, William Butler Yeats and Oscar Wilde to name but a handful are revered in recent history, and owe their inspiration to the fair city.

Dublin also has more than its fair share of parks and gardens, including the beautiful St Stephen’s Green – the largest garden square in Europe, and a great place to relax and enjoy the wonderful plants and flowers. Sport and leisure also feature prominently in Dublin; the city is the home of three of Ireland’s most important sporting venues – Croke Park (the base for the Gaelic Athletic Association and the venue for Gaelic football and Hurling matches), Lansdowne Road (where Irish rugby and football internationals are held), and the famous Leopardstown Horse Racing course.

Dublin is very much a multi-faceted city, and visitors have a habit of returning time and time again.
