The building work on The Dunkenhalgh was completed in April 2005. The work included building an extension to add 50 executive rooms; the number of rooms at The Dunk now stands at 180. To bring the standard of the existing rooms up to that of the recently completed rooms, a programme of refurbishment is well underway, although no firm finish date is available at present.

The rooms have a surprisingly contemporary style, yet are not incongruous with the turreted, porticoed and delightfully idiosyncratic character of the original building. The cool new look of the rooms is combined with a purposeful list of facilities.
