Kelvedon Hatch Secret Nuclear Bunker may be set amidst the beautiful Essex countryside, but it offers a chilling insight into the past, and the fear of nuclear attack on the UK. It was built into the side of a hill, with 10 ft thick reinforced concrete walls, and extends into a labyrinth of rooms, chambers and command centres into which the British Government would have retreated, and from where the country would have been run. Visitors can see for themselves the bunker with its own water supply and electricity generators, BBC studio and radar room.
