Hampshire offers a great deal of shopping opportunities in its towns and cities. Portsmouth and Southampton have a wealth of top brands and major High Street names, particularly in the new Gun Wharf Quays and West Quay Shopping Centres. Just a few miles up the M3, Basingstoke’s town centre is dominated by the Festival Place Shopping Centre, which has an excellent selection of shops, as well as cafes, bars, restaurants and even a cinema. Winchester tends to specialise more in smaller, specialist shops while heading down to the New Forest is bound to unearth a fascinating collection of arts and crafts shops and places selling ideal gifts. Farnborough, Fleet and Aldershot – while not offering such a good range of shops as their larger Hampshire cousins – do have their own shopping centres and retail parks, while the traditional market towns of Petersfield and Alton still offer much to today’s shopper. For those prepared to travel, it is easy to reach Guildford, Reading and Bournemouth from Hampshire – all of these towns have excellent shopping – and even London is only an hour away.
