The superb Hotel du Vin can be found in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, a beautifully revived part of this splendid city. It is the perfect base from which to experience the culture, the shopping, the architecture, entertainment and the vibrant nightlife for which Birmingham is so acclaimed. The magnificent Victorian building was originally the city’s Eye Hospital. It has been extensively refurbished and its character and charm are in keeping with the surrounding area.

The area covered by present-day Birmingham shows evidence of considerable Bronze Age habitation, and subsequent occupations by the Romans, Norse, Saxons and the Normans all left their mark on the region. Birmingham steadily expanded over the following centuries and by the Industrial Revolution, was already Warwickshire’s largest town. If the expansion prior to the mid-18 th Century was somewhat sedate, then the following 200 years saw Birmingham’s size, might and reputation explode as the city became an industrial force to be reckoned with.

As was commonplace in many big cities in Britain during the 1960s, slum clearances and urban redevelopment programmes aimed to rejuvenate Birmingham’s City Centre; no longer the proud city that it had formerly been. Much of the architecture of this era has subsequently been seen as ugly and somewhat soulless, partly because so many beautiful Victorian buildings were destroyed to make way. The Jewellery Quarter was one area that thankfully was spared, and much of the original architecture has been preserved. Hotel du Vin can be found here, in one of Birmingham’s most fashionable quarters.

Hotel du Vin stands at the heart of Birmingham city centre, within easy reach of New Street Station, the Bull Ring and the Mailbox. The hotel’s character is in keeping with that of the surrounding area, with style and sophistication, character and charm. All of the rooms have been designed with flair and are both stylish and extremely comfortable. The attention to detail, as one would expect from Hotel du Vin, is superb and the rooms are equipped with a host of facilities that will satisfy even the most demanding of guests, whether they are visiting for business or pleasure.
