Hotel du Vin is in the centre of historic Tunbridge Wells in Kent. It occupies a magnificent Grade II listed building that was originally a private residence, built in 1762, and is now an immaculately presented hotel. The renovation of the building has been meticulously carried out, with great care taken to preserve the wonderful Georgian character wherever possible. In doing so, Hotel du Vin have successfully created one of the most stylish hotels in this historic spa town.
Royal Tunbridge Wells is a beautiful and peaceful town, situated on the Kent/East Sussex border, approximately midway between London and Hastings. The town’s history centres around the discovery of medicinal qualities of iron and sulphur rich spring waters by Lord North, who was a courtier to James I. It was believed that nervous tension, gout, rheumatism and lumbago could be cured by drinking spring water, and it became customary for the upper classes to descend on Tunbridge Wells to partake in the drinking of the (usually foul tasting!) spa waters. The huge increase in the number of visitors to Tunbridge Wells in the 18th Century is reflected in the many magnificent Georgian buildings that still make up much of the town today. The town was frequently visited by Royalty; Queen Victoria often came to Tunbridge Wells, and Edward VII granted the town the title of “Royal Tunbridge Wells” in 1909. Today, Tunbridge Wells is still a popular and pleasant town to visit, and what better way to make the most of your time here than with a stay at the superb Hotel du Vin?
Hotel du Vin is in a landmark building, an imposing sandstone mansion in a beautiful location. The hotel’s persona sits comfortably with that of its surrounding area. It exudes sophistication, style, character and charm. The stylish rooms at Hotel du Vin have all been designed and executed with flair, charisma and verve. The rooms are stunningly attractive, remarkably functional and satisfyingly comfortable. The attention to detail is truly superb, and the host of facilities on offer in each room will satisfy even the most demanding of guests, whether they visit for business or pleasure.
