The Lutetia is a historic deluxe hotel that stands as the major art deco landmark of the Left Bank region of Paris. Built in 1907, it is the only deluxe hotel within the Parisian centre of fine art, fashion, and literature, and is a masterpiece of art nouveau and early art deco. The hotel is situated close to the Louvre, the Luxembourg Garden and the Orsay Museum, as well as the RER train station and makes the perfect base from which to explore the City of Light. As you walk past the smart bell boys and polished brass into the domed reception hall, you'll be following in the footsteps of artists such as Picasso and Matisse as well as writers such as Gide, Salinger and Kessel, all of whom have appreciated the hotel's particular charm. The Lutetia overlooks the boulevard Raspail in the heart of St Germain des Près in what is certainly the best Left Bank location. Shops and boutiques predominate the surrounding area that exudes bohemian charm and there are plenty of bars, cafés and bistros within easy walking distance. The Lutetia combines four-star luxury with the character of a 1920s hotel, inviting guests to step back in time into a hotel resplendent with Lalique chandeliers, leaded glass windows, engravings and statues.
Rooms and suites at the Lutetia have been decorated by famous French designer Sybille de Margerie who has revived the retro elegance of the 1930s in keeping with the hotel’s history. Rooms and suites now combine classic elegance with modern facilities and offer stunning views across the city to the Eiffel Tower or the hotel’s pretty inner courtyard. The Lutetia’s individually decorated suites are uniquely styled in contemporary or traditional manners and are fully appointed with separate seating areas and King beds. In the literary suite inspired by the bohemian style of the Saint Germain des Près area of Paris guests can take up their place in the library corner and indulge their passion for literature as they gaze across the Paris cityscape. The Lutetia has a Brasserie and the Restaurant Paris, which are both popular dining spots on the Left Bank. Overseen by Chef Philippe Renard they offer fresh seafood and French speciality dishes.
The Lutetia’s offbeat Parisian glamour endears it to a cosmopolitan clientele who are allured by the charm of 1920s living and are finally captivated by excellent service and a location in the magical centre of historic Paris.
