Kent offers an impressively diverse selection of shopping facilities, from local farmers’ markets in its many rural market towns and villages, through to High Street shopping in its larger towns and cities. Kent is of course home to the extensive Bluewater Shopping Complex – one of the largest of its type in Europe and certainly one of the most frequently visited shopping centres in the South of England. The Medway towns of Gillingham, Chatham and Rochester, and also Maidstone, Dover and Canterbury, all provide useful shopping facilities, while Tunbridge Wells is highly regarded as one of England’s finest centres for antiques traders. Should you run out of ideas or perhaps just fancy a change from the usual, Kent is ideally located for visiting France via rail, ferry or the Channel Tunnel. Indeed, Paris may be reached easily from Ashford, while the Dover-Calais ferry has been popular for decades with shoppers searching for bargains across the English Channel.
