Leeds is a great city for shopping, and leads the way in designer names and major high street brands in the North of England. The city centre is compact and easy to get around, with all of the shops within a walkable distance. The city centre contains many pedestrianised areas, making shopping a little more pleasurable and relaxing. Leeds has more than its fair share of top designer boutiques and fashion shops, as well as major name department stores; Harvey Nichols opened its first store outside of London in Leeds’ fashionable Victoria Quarter in 1996, giving this part of the city the moniker 'The Knightsbridge of the North'. Leeds also has an excellent selection of small specialist outlets and some of the finest indoor markets in the country, something for everyone in fact. No wonder Leeds has emerged as such a popular city break destination.
