Leicestershire as a county is well catered for with shopping facilities, with the most diverse selection of shops naturally to be found in its largest city - Leicester. Leicester offers some of the best shopping facilities in the East Midlands, with plenty of familiar High Street names and smaller specialist retailers in the city centre. Many of the streets have been pedestrianised, making for a more relaxed shopping experience, and the Haymarket and Shires Shopping Centres are large, bustling places with a good range of shops, as well as cafes and restaurants to revive the flagging shopper. Leicester’s famous indoor and outdoor markets are as popular as ever, with everything from clothes to fresh fish on sale.
Away from Leicester, there are plenty of other town centres with a decent selection of shops; the facilities in Loughborough, Market Harborough, Hinckley et al may not be in the same league as those in Leicester, but there are plenty of smaller shops and markets to suit most shoppers.
