The Midland Hotel, Manchester
The Manchester Midland Hotel is a prominent and distinctive hotel in the heart of Manchester City Centre. A magnificent city full of history, character and thriving commerce, Manchester is also an international conference destination, a commercial and cultural hub of northern England and a major destination for business and leisure visitors alike.
The Midland Hotel Manchester occupies a prime location on Peter Street and dates from 1903, when it was built by The Midland Railway Company. In the days of the British Empire, when Manchester was a key centre of manufacture and trade, the powerful business community needed a hotel that would reflect their grand ambitions and flamboyant style, and so The Midland Hotel was born.
Today the Hotel offers 303 stylish en-suite bedrooms with a further 14 elegant suites; all rooms and suites benefit from The hotel’s recent £12 million refurbishment. The hotel’s public areas were also returned to their former elegant glory as part of the renovations, and all 3 of the hotel’s restaurants offer outstanding cuisine, most notably the award-winning French Restaurant.
The Midland Hotel is also one of Manchester’s premier venues for meetings and conferences; apt, given that the hotel has witnessed some of the greatest meetings of the 20th Century, notably that of Charles Stewart Rolls and Frederick Henry Royce leading to the creation of Rolls Royce Limited. From small boardroom meetings to grand events and conferences, The hotel can accommodate all in style.
The location of hotel is ideal: it is right in the centre of all the action because Manchester has literally grown up around it. The Midland is situated next door to the G-Mex Centre and Bridgewater Hall; within easy walking distance are the Opera House and Palace Theatre, while the MEN Arena is not far away. The Hotel is only half a mile from Piccadilly train station and Manchester’s modern tram system runs alongside the hotel, meaning visitors can travel around with ease.
