Corby

Corby is one of the largest towns in Northamptonshire, and is situated in the north of the county. Iron ore has been mined and smelted in the area since Roman times, and Corby became synonymous with iron and steel making until the demise of the industry in the 1980s.

Kettering is a medium-sized town towards the north of Northamptonshire, and stands on the banks of the River Ise. The Romans appear to have extensively inhabited the area, although much of the town as it is known today results from the growth of the boot and shoe industry in the 19th Century.

Northampton is the county town of Northamptonshire. It is a medium-sized market town, and was established by the Saxons as a key town in the Kingdom of Mercia. Like many towns in the area, shoe making and tanning were key industries, but these have now sadly gone.

Daventry is a small market town towards the western edges of Northamptonshire, close to the county border with Warwickshire. The town centre itself features several historic buildings, although the surrounding area is made up of much more recent housing and industrial developments.

Brackley is a small market town in the southern corners of Northamptonshire. The town grew over the years thanks to its position on several key trading routes, and its wool and lace trades brought great prosperity. Brackley is just 5 miles from Silverstone racing circuit.

Towcester is a small town in Northamptonshire. As its name and position on the old Watling Street (now the A5) allude, Towcester has Roman origins. Today the town is best known for its horse racing course and for its proximity to Silverstone racing circuit.
