The Black Horse Hotel is an oasis of cask ale amid the keg bitter and lager desert of Preston’s city centre. Dating from 1898, this red brick building was formerly a hotel, and has been renovated substantially while retaining original features such as the wonderful ceramic bar counter. The ale and the pub itself have been highly commended by CAMRA, and bar meals are also served.

There is an on-site brewery (The Hart Brewery), and as you would expect of a Good Pub Guide entry, the beer here is excellent.
