Scarborough and Whitby are home to the largest and most diverse range of shops on the Yorkshire Coast. Whitby is a charming little town with cobbled streets and narrow winding lanes packed full of gift shops, specialist outlets, antique shops and bookshops. Of particular note are the many arts and craft shops specialising in Jet wares. Although it is not perhaps the most well equipped shopping town around, Whitby’s appeal to many is actually for that very reason – it is a place to get away from it all. Scarborough on the other hand has a much greater selection of shops and major High Street brands; The Brunswick Shopping Centre is home to a good variety of shops, and the town centre has plenty of cafes and coffee shops in which to find respite. Scarborough’s town centre and along the seafront are home to a plethora of gift shops and curiosity shops selling rock, souvenirs and the usual British seaside fare.
