As one of the major cities in South Wales, Swansea is equipped with a useful selection of shops and retail outlets. Although perhaps not comparable with the celebrated shopping facilities of nearby Cardiff , Swansea nevertheless has a good selection of High Street brands, smaller specialist outlets and the now ubiquitous out of town retail parks. Swansea’s city centre is enjoying a renaissance, and in particular the Maritime Quarter has been substantially rejuvenated – consequently the city centre shops have also been significantly improved. The large Quadrant Shopping Centre is at the heart of the city and offers a good range of familiar names, and along with Oxford Street forms the central shopping area. Swansea Market remains ever popular and specialises in fresh local produce; it is the largest indoor market in Wales. Head out to the beautiful Gower Peninsula and you may happen upon Mumbles, where local artists sell their wares along with arts, crafts and gift shops.
