The style of the rooms is very neat and tidy, and although the décor is perhaps a little dated, it has nevertheless been executed to a high standard and the rooms are satisfyingly spacious. Road noise from the busy M6 motorway is barely noticeable and nothing spoils the relaxed atmosphere. Many of the rear-facing rooms feature splendid views over the River Ribble.

The Tickled Trout is one of the most well-known hotels in the North West of England. It occupies an eminently convenient and attractive location on the banks of the River Ribble in Lancashire, close to the UK’s newest city – Preston. Its proximity to Junction 31 of the M6 (turn off the motorway and you simply can’t miss it) makes The Tickled Trout easily accessible not only from the Lancashire towns of Blackburn, Bolton and Blackpool, but also puts it within range of Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham, Glasgow and The Lake District. This is reflected in the Tickled Trout’s diverse range of clientele, a good blend of business and leisure visitors taking advantage of The Tickled Trout’s many virtues. Step out onto the patio and lawn to the rear of the hotel and find a tranquil garden running down to the Ribble. It is so well secluded that the motorway and the demands of modern life seem far away.
