The Whately Hall Hotel dates from 1632 and occupies a prime location in the heart of Banbury, close to the famous Banbury Cross and set in beautiful gardens. The hotel has undergone sympathetic restoration, the extensive refurbishment has successfully retained many of this wonderful building’s original features; hidden staircases, wooden beams, stone fireplaces, priest holes and the resident ghost of Father Bernard are just part of this 17th Century treasure’s charm.
The historic market town of Banbury is an ideal base from which to explore the nearby Cotswolds and Oxfordshire countryside. Shakespeare's Stratford-upon-Avon; Sulgrave Manor, the ancestral home of George Washington; the magnificent Broughton Castle, where the TV film of Pride & Prejudice was filmed; The Motor Heritage Centre at Gaydon with its large collection of cars charting the history of British motoring; and historic Warwick Castle can all be reached within 30 minutes from the hotel.
Aside from the charm, the history and the wonderful atmosphere, Whately Hall is also a well-equipped hotel, offering superb four star standard accommodation, an oak panelled restaurant with a wonderful ambience, as well as excellent facilities for meetings and conferences, with a choice of six meeting rooms. |
